5 Ways to get more Product Reviews, Testimonials, and Client Ratings to Elevate your Digital Marketing
Collecting client reviews is important to businesses selling online. Whether you are full-blown eCommerce brand, are selling only a few products or services online, or are a contractor building a brand reputation, reviews matter. If you find you’re not collecting very many product reviews, testimonials, or client ratings, here are a few ways to upgrade your digital marketing efforts.
Build a reviews/testimonials section
External reviews are intensely important to building one’s online reputation. That said, creating your own reviews section hosted direct on your website also helps a great deal. In all likelihood, more customers are going to see your website than they are to see your social media. Provide an area where customers can share their interaction with your brand. That way, when a lead comes your way that wants to see prior customer experiences, it’ll all be there for them to explore.
Incentivize reviews
Advertise to customers rewards for leaving a review. This can be everything from a free meal to a gift card, ‘free shipping’ coupon, discount, or something else. Just ensure it’s something your customers will appreciate and love. If you’re a contractor with direct contact with your client, after preparing an invoice, leave a kind comment to log a review. For a gift card or a future discount, it’s very likely you can nab a positive review.
Use your business card
Alongside your website, phone number and contact information, and logo, put encouragement to leave a review direct on your business card. All it needs to be is something simple like, “if we leave you with a smile, please leave us a review on our site!”. You may wish to provide them with a link to your Facebook page, Yelp, or other review source. The more positive reviews you have, the more your online reputation grows.
Use your email marketing
Anyone subscribed to your email newsletter is going to be welcoming of messages you want to send. Just like you would with your business card, don’t hesitate to request a review post-purchase. After someone has bought a product or service from you, follow-up with them via email letting them know they can leave a review direct on your site or through any of the available formats.
Include a reference on their payment receipt
As a customer is making a purchase, should you send them an email receipt, include an advertisement encouraging them to leave a review. Do the same if they make a purchase in-store. In the same manner corporate brands want customers to fill out a survey ‘for a chance to win ‘x’’, encouraging the leaving of a testimonial, product review, or brand testimonial is its equivalent. If they’ve had a positive experience and interaction with your brand, don’t let them walk away until you’ve at least asked them to leave a review. Don’t overdo it on the requests. That said, it doesn’t hurt to leave a hint once or twice as kind reminders.
