Free Live Chat for Your Website: Setting Up channels on Tidio (Part 1)
Hey everyone! Welcome back to our series, today will be setting up channels on Tidio for free. we’re diving into Part 1 where we'll focus on setting up the LiveChat widget feature. So, if you’re looking to level up your customer support game, you’re in the right place. Let’s get started! Trust me, it’s super simple and you'll have it up and running in no time!
Alright, let's jump right in. First things first, head over to your Tidio dashboard.
Once you're in your dashboard, you'll find the settings icon in the left corner. Click on it to open up your settings.
Your settings are divided into three sections: Channels, Personal, and General. We've already tackled the Personal settings in our last video. Today, we're focusing on Channels.
In the Channels section, you'll notice it's divided into various chat/inbox channels. Throughout this series, we'll cover each one, starting with LiveChat, which is the Tidio chat widget, followed by Helpdesk, Facebook Messenger inbox, Instagram inbox, and WhatsApp inbox.
Let's get started with LiveChat. Click on it, and a dropdown menu will appear.
First up, the Appearance tab. Here you can customize the look and feel of your chat widget. Choose your brand's colors, upload a welcome image or your logo, set your online status message, widget position, and more.
Next, the Widget Visibility tab. Here, you can decide where and when the chat widget displays on your site. You can choose between mobile only, desktop only, or both. You can also hide the chat widget on specific pages, giving you full control over its visibility.
Don’t forget, there’s a UI preview in the top right corner. It lets you see all the changes you make in real-time. Always hit the save button to ensure your changes are applied.
Moving on to the Get Started tab. Set your status text, add a welcome message, and customize the background for added aesthetics and branding.
Now, let’s explore the Mobile Widget tab. Here, you can adjust the position and size of the widget. Make your adjustments and hit save.
Next, the Pre-Chat Survey tab. This is where you can capture leads when customers want a one-on-one chat. Enable it, write an intro message, add survey fields to capture information like email, name, and phone number. Don’t forget to add your GDPR compliance note and a checkbox for newsletter sign-ups.
Following that, the Routing Rules for Departments tab. This works alongside the pre-chat survey, allowing customers to choose which department they want to speak to. You can manage your departments in the department settings. Save your changes when done.
Let’s not forget about Multi-Language Support. Add as many languages as you need for your business. You can choose from pre-translated languages or add your own translations. Always remember to save your changes.
Now that we've covered appearance settings, let's move on to the Sidebar tab. While I personally don't use this feature much, you might find it useful. Enable it, set your colors, text, label, and position, then save your settings.
Alright, you've set up your chat widget appearance! Now, let's install this on your business website.
Go to the Installation tab. Here, you'll find various native installation methods for platforms like Shopify, WordPress, WooCommerce, and more. For today, we'll focus on manual installation.
Grab the provided code snippet. Now, this step requires a bit of technical proficiency. Paste this code just before the end of the body tag on your live website backend. If you’re not comfortable doing this, don’t hesitate to ask your developer for assistance.
Once the code is installed properly, that concludes the setup process for your LiveChat Tidio widget on your website.
